NORTH FORK, NY — Once again, a life-saving homeless pets is headed to the North Fork this weekend, with eager four-footed friends hoping to find their forever homes.

According to Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations for The League, formerly known as the North Fork Animal Welfare League, the dogs will be arriving on Saturday. In the event of a snowstorm, that. date might be pushed to Sunday or Monday; check for updates, Stroup said.

The transport will feature a passel of 37 pups. "Lots of puppies, small dogs, large dogs, young dogs, old dogs — all breeds," Stroup said.

Stroup said she wanted to thank the "very special North Fork community for being so supportive with donations, adoptions, fosters, sharing, and volunteering. It has made it possible for the League to take in another huge transport from kill shelters this weekend."

The dogs will be available at the shelter's Peconic location, at 269 Peconic Lane in Peconic, and at the Aquebogue site, at 324 Church Lane.

The dogs are in dire need, Stroup said, with no options — until they board the transport to the North Fork.

"These shelters we are pulling from are actively euthanizing because they have no more space," she said. "Please help us to continue to help them so this can stop."
